Why in-browser tools?
Most online file tools upload your document to a server, process it there, and send it back. That works — but your file has now been on someone else's computer, and you're trusting them to delete it. FileWren takes a different approach: the whole tool is delivered to your browser as code, and your file is processed right on your device using technologies like WebAssembly and the Canvas API. Nothing is transmitted, so there is nothing to leak, log or delete. It's also faster, because a 50MB file doesn't need to travel anywhere.
