How to make a favicon from an image

1. Add a source image. A square PNG or SVG at 512×512 pixels or larger gives the sharpest result.
2. Check the previews. Keep the complete image or fill the square, then choose transparency or a solid background.
3. Download the bundle. The ZIP contains browser icons, Apple and PWA sizes, an ICO file and setup tags.

What a complete favicon package needs

A modern favicon is more than the tiny picture in a desktop browser tab. Browsers still use 16, 32 and 48-pixel icons, while iPhones expect an Apple touch icon and installed web apps use larger 192 and 512-pixel images. FileWren generates each size from the same source and packages them with a multi-image ICO file, a web app manifest and matching HTML link tags.

Designing an icon that stays clear at 16 pixels

Start with a simple, bold mark and avoid small text. The preview grid shows the real output sizes, so the 16-pixel tile reveals whether thin lines or fine details disappear. Keep whole image adds natural space around a rectangular logo; Fill square enlarges the artwork and crops equal amounts from opposite edges. A transparent background is flexible, but a chosen solid color can keep pale artwork visible across different browser themes.

Everything is created locally with your browser's image and canvas features. The source logo is never uploaded, and the ZIP is assembled in memory on your device. SVG input is cleaned before it is rendered: scripts, embedded HTML, event handlers and external references are removed while the visible vector artwork is retained.

After extracting the ZIP, place the files in your site's public root or icons folder and copy the generated tags into the document head. If your source image needs a square transparent shape first, use the circle crop tool. For a fixed YouTube image instead, use the 1280×720 resizer.
